Cleshe Rice:

Welcome back to Divine Harmony, her Voice in Faith Cleshe Rice I'm , and today we're exploring what it means to live boldly and beautifully in Christ, embracing the purpose he has for us. Our scripture from today is taken from Psalms 139.14, and it says I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. You are uniquely created with purpose. God has called you to live boldly in him, knowing that your life is a reflection of his beauty and glory. Living with purpose means embracing who you are in Christ, using your gifts to serve him and walking with confidence in his plan for your life. I want to talk a little bit about David In Psalms 139.14,.

Cleshe Rice:

When I was studying this passage, I decided well, I was prompted Let me not say I decided, I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to read the whole passage, which I did. And then, while I was reading it, I was prompted to ask these three questions, which I had recently started doing. I was listening to someone else's podcast and they suggested that every time they read the scriptures, these are three questions one should ask themselves while they're reading to get a better and deeper understanding of what God has to say. So the three questions are who wrote this, why is he writing this and who is he writing this to? So those were the three questions that I asked and I'm telling you. It just made me see the prayer in Psalms 139, not just verse 14, but the whole chapter that David was praying and why, and it just wowed me. So David's story is one of triumph. So David's story is one of triumph, failure, humility, pride, faithfulness, sin. His life serves as a profound example of God's grace and mercy, showing that even the greatest of heroes have flaws yet can find redemption through repentance and faith. So when I thought of who wrote this Psalms 139. Now we know David wrote a lot of the Psalms, right, and David wrote this Psalm.

Cleshe Rice:

But who is David? What is David's background? So while I'm reading this Psalm and yes, it's an amazing, powerful prayer that just between David and God, and it just has so many awesome nuggets in it I wanted to understand deeply where he was coming from. So David is the second king of Israel. He reigned after Saul. He was considered a man after God's own heart. Okay, now this is after. He has done some crazy things in his life, right as far as sin is concerned, and he's done some amazing things in his life. Through Christ's guidance. His story can be found in 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings and 1 Chronicles. He's the youngest of eight sons. His father's name is Jesse. He was born in Bethlehem and he was a shepherd. He reigned for 40 years and he died at the age of 70.

Cleshe Rice:

But here are some of the things that caused a lot of consequences in David's life a lot of struggles and turmoils within his family. David slept with his soldier's wife, beshepa, and then he had her husband killed to cover up the affair right. So although he repented from that sin and I could only imagine how he felt after the conviction, as well as how God felt there were still consequences, even though he repented. His daughter Tamar was raped by her brother Amnon and I hope I'm pronouncing his name right and then their brother, tamar and Amnon's brother Absalom, killed Amnon for raping his sister Tamar. Not only did he do that, absalom tried to take the throne from his father, david, and his rebellion led to a civil war where David had to flee Jerusalem.

Cleshe Rice:

So when I was reading all of this and I'm thinking about this, I'm saying to myself here is a man that was considered to be a man after God's own heart. Not only did he have turmoil in his family. Not only was his children doing crazy things, I mean, think about this His son raped his daughter. Then his other son killed the son that raped the daughter, and that son that killed his other son that raped his daughter tried to dethrone David, okay, and take over as king, which led to a huge war, a civil war, and David had to flee Jerusalem. I mean, and still, after all of that, god used him. That is so powerful. After his affair, after he killed the husband of the woman he slept with, after all of that, god still used him.

Cleshe Rice:

So the first question is who wrote this? David, and of course David had things going on in his life, I mean, he was also. There were good things, of course, that he did as well. And then the second question why is he writing this? David is writing this because he's in awe of God and life. He's in awe of God's thought process and how God thinks and how God creates. Because how beautiful it is of God to create him and us, how beautiful it is for God to create us. The thought that had to go into that. He had to allow your father to meet your mother at the right time for them to grow in love. And then they had to conceive you at the right time. He had to intricately make you your cells, your thought process, your character, your mind, every inch of your body. How wonderful is God when creating life.

Cleshe Rice:

I recently saw something on social media. It was a picture of what the womb looks like when it is being fertilized. When the egg is being fertilized in the womb, and one of the things that the social media posts said while it's showing it in slow motion, there's a burst of light that shines when life is being created. And I thought about that while reading this, while David was in awe of God's creation of humanity and mankind and himself and how he did it and how he goes about it, that even in the womb, when a seed is being fertilized, that egg is being fertilized, there's a burst of light that is so powerful God and life. God is light, right and life is amazing how he thought about that. I just put that together and I just thought that was amazing.

Cleshe Rice:

So David is in awe of the creation of life, how he was knitted in his mother's womb and how God knew before creation what his purpose would be and what path he would be led down, and how God put it all together from the beginning to the end, how God is everywhere and knows all. And I love his closing to the chapter where it says search me, oh God. Try my heart, search my thoughts, and if there is anything in me that is not of you, clean it out and lead me on your path in your way. I just thought that that was so powerful. God is so amazing. I am in awe of his greatness daily. And then the third question is who is he writing this to? And he's writing it to God, the perfect person that he should be writing it to. We should all be in awe of God. We should all speak to God like this.

Cleshe Rice:

I've really read this chapter and it really made me think of God and how wonderful he is in a different way. I mean, yes, we all grateful for life, right, but when you think about what David went through, when you think about what his family went through and how he can still get on his knees and thank God in this moment, the turmoil that his children caused because of his sin, the things that his children had to endure because of his sin, his son ended up dying, not the one that killed, of course, the one that killed, the one that raped his daughter, but the grief that it brought David during that time, you know. And still God called David a man of his own heart and still he went through all of that suffering and all that turmoil and he could still get on his knees and thank God for creating him and thank God for not hiding from him and thank God for anywhere that he goes, no matter how far, no matter how deep in the sea, how far that God is there. God is there through the darkness, god is there through the light, and he could still thank God through all of that. What a wonderful, wonderful thing. So remember, guys, you are bold, you are beautiful and you are living with purpose in Christ. Walk in his strength and shine his light wherever you go.

Cleshe Rice:

Let's close for prayer. Heavenly Father, I thank you for today's reading. I pray that we will all develop hearts like David's and a clear understanding of how truly wonderful you are. Help us to be in awe of you and to know that you do not make mistakes, that we are all created wonderfully in your sight, with your right hand, and before we were even thought of in our mother's minds that we were in your mind. Help us to never forget our worth and who we are, because of whose we are. I pray this prayer in the wonderful, majestic and matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen and amen. I don't ever want to assume that you know the Lord, because you can belong here before you believe, but I do want to give you an opportunity to know Jesus for yourself, to taste the goodness he has to offer.

Cleshe Rice:

If you feel like you've strayed away from your first love or you don't know him at all, I invite you to pray this prayer with me, heavenly Father. I invite you to pray this prayer with me, heavenly Father, I am a sinner. I recognize that you are the one true Lord and I need you in my life. I cannot do this on my own. Come into my heart, lord. Come into my life. Renew a spirit within me. I repent today of my sins. I ask you to forgive me, lord, god, I ask you to lead me in the way that I should go In Jesus' name, amen. If you just prayed that prayer, I celebrate with you. I'm happy for you.
